DAY 3: BOSTON
The full day to enjoy Boston, one of America's most historic and beautiful cities. This city is small enough to visit on foot and many facilities are available for touring this way. The Freedom Trail is an interesting tourist walk. The Boston Common, the major park in central Boston, and Quincy Market at Faneuil Hall are all fascinating areas to see.

DAY 4: BOSTON – SALEM – PORTSMOUTH – KENNEBUNKPORT / PORTLAND (110m / 176km)

Then it's north into New Hampshire, through the seaport of Portsmouth into Maine. Arrive in Kennebunkport, one of Maine's most popular and picturesque resorts. It is also former President Bush's second home. The town has many boutiques, galleries and restaurants. Stay here for the night, or continue along the Maine coast to Portland.

DAY 5: KENNEBUNKPORT / PORTLAND – ACADIA NATIONAL PARK – BAR HARBOR (130m / 208km)
Time to explore Portland, Maine' largest city featuring a restored, 19th-century area. In Freeport, stop at one of America's most famous outdoors-style clothing stores, L.L. Bean, open 24 hours a day. Drive along the coast or highway to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. This island, connected to the shore by a bridge, is a beautiful example of the desolate, rocky Maine coast. Visit Acadia National Park and stay for the night, or travel inland to overnight in Bangor, Maine.

DAY 6: BAR HARBOR – ACADIA NATIONAL PARK – WHITE MOUNTAINS / BRETTON WOODS (210m / 336km)

This beautifully restored village, set on 1,200 acres of farm, woodland and pasture, is home to the premier collection of Shaker buildings and artifacts. Descend through the Berkshires, summer resort for New Yorkers and Bostonians alike, famous for scenic and cultural interest. The Pittsfield/Lenox area boasts many musical events, including the Tanglewood Festival. Many galleries, antique shops and resorts are found throughout these hills. Continue to the Sturbridge area for your overnight.

DAY 9: BERKSHIRES / STURBRIDGE – NEWPORT (110m / 176km)

DAY 10: NEWPORT – CAPE COD (100m / 160km)
Take the short drive from Newport to Cape Cod, the scenic and historic nook of land jutting into the Atlantic Ocean. Cape Cod is a resort of desolate sand dunes, small villages and hidden ponds. It is a great place to relax and sightsee, from Hyannis, the commercial center and home of the Kennedy family, to Provincetown, the village at the very tip of Cape Cod, noted for its fun, colorful atmosphere. There are two nights on Cape Cod.

DAY 11: CAPE COD
The full day to relax and to visit Hyannis, Provincetown, the National Seashore or Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, two scenic islands that can be easily reached by ferry. There is more than enough to do on Cape Cod.
