Arrive in New York City, America's largest city and greatest attraction. Your hotel is conveniently located within minutes of Broadway theaters, Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue and Central Park.

DAY 2: NEW YORK – MYSTIC SEAPORT – NEWPORT – BOSTON (230m / 368km)
Depart for New England and Boston. Travel along the Atlantic coast through Connecticut and stop at Mystic Seaport, a restored 19th century port. Also visit Newport, RI, a town rich in history and scenery, where America's wealthiest families built fabulous mansions at the turn of the century. Arrive in Boston, the capital of Massachusetts and a cultural and historical center of the United States.
DAY 3: BOSTON
Take the full day to explore this beautiful city. Visit Boston Common, Quincy Markets and Faneuil Hall, a restored marketplace featuring restaurants, shops and museums at "the Wharf." Take the Freedom Trail walking tour through Boston's historic Beacon Hill area. The evening offers theater, movies or a walk along the wharf area, or visit the North End area for ethnic restaurants.
DAY 4: BOSTON – WHITE MOUNTAINS – NEW HAMPSHIRE – QUÉBEC (350m / 560km)
Be sure your travel documents are in order, as you will be leaving the United States for Canada. Travel through the heart of New England through New Hampshire, passing the Lake District and the White Mountains into Québec, Canada. Arrive in quaint Québec City, the most European city in North America. Visit the citadel and the old town to experience the history of this French Canadian city.
DAY 5: QUÉBEC – ST. LAWRENCE RIVER – MONTRÉAL (280m / 448km)
Time to explore Québec City this morning. Then depart westward along the St. Lawrence Seaway, one of the most important shipping routes in the world. Travel to Montréal by the faster auto route or the slower, more scenic, river route. Another option is to travel north through the beautiful Laurentien Mountains. Arrival in Montréal.
DAY 6: MONTRÉAL – OTTAWA (205m / 328km)
Explore Québec's largest, and one of Canada's most important, cities. Visit Old Montréal, the Olympic site and Notre Dame Basilica, or take a trip north to the Laurentide Park. Continue to Ottawa, the capital of Canada, graced with beautiful architecture and scenery. Visit the Parliament buildings and the Museum of Art. Stroll along the Ottawa River where many year-round events are held.
DAY 7: OTTAWA – THOUSAND ISLANDS – LAKE ONTARIO – TORONTO (275m / 440km)
After visiting Ottawa, travel south towards the St. Lawrence River, where a cruise of the Thousand Islands is available in either Ganonoque or Kingston. Travel among the hundreds of forested islands, some with castles and mansions built in the early 20th century. Then continue along the coast of Lake Ontario to Toronto, Canada's most sophisticated and important commercial city. Its striking architecture is impressive, including the CN Tower where you can be taken to the top for a great view or meal. This evening enjoy Union Street for clubs, restaurants, and some of the best live theater in Canada.
DAY 8: TORONTO - NIAGARA FALLS (145m / 232km)
Depart southward along Lake Ontario to Niagara Falls. Visit Niagaraon- the-Lake, a small town of historical interest dating to the Revolutionary War. Then on to the most famous waterfalls in America: Niagara Falls. While not the largest, Niagara Falls is a scenic wonder and easily viewed from both the American and Canadian sides, from beneath on the Maid of the Mist cruise, or even from behind on a walking tour. Try the Skylon Tower at night for a dinner above the falls during the illumination.
DAY 9: NIAGARA FALLS – FINGER LAKES REGIONS – CORNING – AMISH COUNTRY/LANCASTER (325m / 520km)
Leave the Falls for a beautiful drive through New York State. Travel through the Finger Lakes region, New York's wine district, and Corning, home of the famous Corning Glass Museum. Then into Pennsylvania and the Appalachian Mountains, the ancient hills of America. Arrive in Lancaster, the center of interesting attractions, including Pennsylvania Dutch Country, home of the Amish.
DAY 10: LANCASTER - WASHINGTON D.C. (85m / 136km)
Visit the Lancaster area or Gettysburg and the Civil War National Military Park, and then drive through Maryland, a scenic state of rolling hills, horse farms and Civil War Memorials. Arrive in Washington, DC, the nation's capital. There is much to see here, including the White House, Capitol, FBI Building, Washington Monument, and the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials, as well as museums such as the National Gallery and the Hirschorn. Tonight, visit Georgetown for restaurants, shopping and nightclubs.
DAY 11: WASHINGTON D.C.
Full day to explore Washington. No trip would be complete without a visit to the Smithsonian Institute and the Air and Space Museum, the nation's monument to man's history of flight. Also see Union Station, the beautifully restored train terminal, which now houses many fine restaurants and shops. In the area are Arlington National Cemetery, the Pentagon, Colonial Alexandria and Mt. Vernon, George Washington's home and an historic site.
DAY 12: WASHINGTON – BALTIMORE – PHILADELPHIA – NEW YORK (230m / 360km)
Depart northward. A visit to Baltimore, MD, is worthwhile to see its harbor place restoration and its historic district. Also en route is Philadelphia, the birthplace of American liberty: see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, as well as the Ben Franklin Museum. Arrive in New York City for the end of your Northeast Tour.
