Be sure to take the hike through the Giant Forest grove to the massive General Sherman Tree considered to be the largest living thing on earth. Continue to Visalia.

Day 7 SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK – DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK
(356 mi / 573 km)
Depart the rich farmlands of central California and cross the southern end of the Sierra Nevada mountain range through Kern River Valley. Take time to admire the beautiful Lake Isabella on the way to one of the hottest places on earth and the lowest point in North America, Death Valley National Park.

Day 8 DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK – LAS VEGAS
(187 mi / 301 km)
Make an early morning departure to appreciate the breathtaking view of the valley from Zabriskie Point. Take the short drive to Badwater, which at 282 ft (86 m) under sea level is considered the lowest spot in the Western Hemisphere. Then it’s on to the spectacular man-made oasis of Las Vegas

Day 9 LAS VEGAS
This is a day at leisure. Las Vegas is a city that never sleeps. The “Strip” will mesmerize you with its dazzling lights, casino action and opulent hotels with their lavish shows and headline performers. Try your hand with “Lady Luck” or see one of the famous shows. Take the time to visit the well known resorts with their individual themes and a myriad of attractions or just relax poolside.

Take the Southern Entrance through Zion Canyon, a spectacular gorge cut into the desert then continue on to Bryce Canyon National Park. Take the remainder of the afternoon to visit some of the most colorful and interesting rock formations found anywhere. Views from Inspiration Point, the Natural Bridge and Bryce Point will make this day most memorable.

Day 11 BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK – CAPITOL REEF NATIONAL PARK – MOAB
(266 mi / 429 km)
Sunrise in Bryce Canyon National Park is a spectacular way to start this day. Continue east through some of the largest wilderness areas in the country. Travel through Capitol Reef National Park, an area of reef-like cliffs capped by white sandstone formations. Arrive in picturesque Moab

Day 12 MOAB
Today is a day at leisure. Moab is a great starting point for jeep, plane, whitewater rafting, hiking or canoeing trips in the surrounding parks: Arches National Park, with over 2,000 natural sandstone arches; Canyonlands National Park, with its canyons, arches, spires, buttes and mesas; and Dead Horse Point State Park, with fantastic shapes of precipitous bluffs and towering spires.

Day 13 MOAB – MONUMENT VALLEY / KAYENTA
(166 mi / 268 km)
The road heads south towards Monument Valley. Along the way, there are three possible detours to see some more spectacular scenery. The first is the Needles Overlook, which offers an outstanding view of the Colorado River, the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, and the Indian Creek area. The second stop would be at Canyonlands National Park, with its colorful landscape eroded into countless canyons, mesas and buttes by the Colorado River and its tributaries. The third detour leads to Natural Bridges National Monument, which preserves some of the finest examples of natural stone architecture in the southwest. Today’s tour ends in Monument Valley, whose breathtaking views have provided the setting for many classic Western movies.

Day 14 MONUMENT VALLEY / KAYENTA – GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK
(153 mi / 246 km)
Make sure to depart early today in order to make time for the Painted Desert, a scenic desert whose landscape changes continuously. Then continue onward to the magnificent Grand Canyon, a powerful and inspiring landscape that overwhelms our senses through its immense size. Encounter a world of multi-colored hues reflected on the mile deep walls created by the eroding forces of the Colorado River. At sunset, be sure to see the fantastic, ever changing panorama of rock formations from Hopi point.

Day 15 GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK – ROUTE 66 / SELIGMAN – LAUGHLIN
(222 mi / 357 km)
Sunrise is the perfect time to view the spectacular interplay of color, shadow and light in the horizontal strata of the Grand Canyon. After revelling in the beauty of the canyon, depart south via Williams and continue west to Seligman. This was once a bustling town on America’s “Mother Road” Route 66 and prides itself as one of the last original outposts of the highway. The stretch from here to Kingman is the longest remaining portion of the historic road. Kingman has a number of unique roadside motels which stand as architectural monuments to a long lost era of travel. Stay in Laughlin along the banks of the Colorado River.

Day 16 LAUGHLIN – LOS ANGELES
(297 mi / 478 km)
Depart Laughlin today for Los Angeles. Take a break in Newberry Springs, filming site of the movie “Bagdad Cafe” or in Barstow to shop at the outlet stores. Continue to Los Angeles for your departure.
